SOAS and ACCA sign new global partnership agreement
ACCA and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) – part of the University of London – signed a global partnership agreement on 11 July to enable ACCA’s affiliates and members worldwide to study for the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Financial Management.
Clare Minchington, managing director of education, learning and development at ACCA, said: ‘Since its founding in 1916, SOAS has built an enviable reputation around the world for the quality and calibre of its courses, teaching and research. Part of the University of London, and located in the heart of the capital, SOAS continues to enhance its position as the world's leading centre for the study of a highly-diverse range of subjects concerned with Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Their global coverage and expertise in the public sector make SOAS an ideal partner for ACCA which has 110,000 members and 260,000 students in 170 countries.’
The Diploma is designed to enable individuals to advise on and make financial decisions and policy choices in relation to the financing and management of public infrastructure and services. It provides invaluable preparation for high achieving personnel in governments, public services, international organisations and NGOs. The Diploma is particularly relevant to members who wish to gain further education in public finance.
Professor Colin Bundy, Director and Principal of SOAS, said: ‘SOAS benefits from the expertise and reputation of ACCA in helping design and write public finance courses to a high standard. The association with one of the world’s leading accountancy bodies complements our expertise in finance and management. Students will have the assurance that the financial management and accounting aspects of the programme have been considered and recommended by a leading accounting body.’
