F9 in current syllabus is more straightforward. Although some topics are moved from Paper 3.7 in old syllabus, some tough issues exclude complex calculations. Furthermore, many tedious management accounting calcultions are not required in F9 any more(they are now in F5), as a result, the concepts and calculations are much more clear and understandable, especially in investment appraisal, business financing and valuation, all of which are the main issues in the F9 syllabus. Some other topics, such as cost of capital theory and foreign currency exchange and interest risk, are more (or purely) concept-focused. Practice makes perfect and do understand the theoretical points other than memorize and vomit them. |
