ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and University of Limerick (UL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Shanghai, to open a special application route to master degrees for ACCA students from mainland China.
The cooperation between ACCA and UL has established a new platform to boost international exchange in education and will strengthen the leading positions of both organisations in nurturing international accounting and finance talents. Jan O’Sullivan T.D., the Minister for Education and Skills, Ireland, witnessed and addressed the signing ceremony of this cross-border agreement. Aileen Cai, head of education of ACCA China and Professor Paul McCutcheon, vice president academic & register, University of Limerick, sealed the cooperation on behalf of both organisations.
Ada Leung, head of ACCA China, said: 'The special application route provided by University of Limerick for ACCA students shows that the international brand of ACCA Qualification and its comprehensive syllabus are well recognised by leading international universities. ACCA has been keen to train internationally qualified complete finance talents in partnership with top universities. I believe that the cooperation will be another successful case combining professional education and academic education. This will also provide an excellent opportunity for further study for Chinese students who seek a rewarding career in accounting and business on the international stage.'
Professor Paul McCutcheon, vice president academic & register, University of Limerick, said: 'This cooperation agreement is very important to the University of Limerick. ACCA is a global body whose standards and reputation are well known. We are proud to be associated with ACCA and its network of highly prestigious Chinese universities. This agreement will reinforce the internationalisation strategy of the University of Limerick and in particular, the Kemmy Business School (KBS). The KBS produces graduates across all the business disciplines including accounting and finance. Programmes are offered at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and KBS graduates are employed across the world in business, finance and related sectors.'
According to the agreement, UL will open a special application route of MSc in Financial Services and MSc in Risk Management and Insurance for ACCA students from mainland China and will provide scholarships under the following conditions:
